Name: Pablo Rodriguez

From: Spain

Style: Classical Guitar

Galician classical guitarist Pablo Rodriguez is considered by critics and the public alike to be one of the greatest Spanish talents of his generation, for his magical sound, virtuosity and communication, as well as for his deep and erudite performances. Following his performance at Hellys two years ago and the other concerts he has given in Cornwall, it is probably fair to say that Cornish audiences agree!

He studied at the COSMAC and ESMUC with Ramón Carnota and Alex Garrobé respectively, achieving the highest qualifications. He was advised by such renowned musicians as Leo Brouwer, Zoran Dukic, David Russell and Carlo Marchione, and received Spain's only classical guitar award, the José Ramírez-AIE Scholarship. He was also the only Galician guitarist ever to been a finalist at the Francisco Tarrega Competition – one of the world's most important guitar events.

Rodriguez has performed widely since the age of 14, and appeared in more than two hundred concerts in France, Italy, Portugal, Spain, Switzerland and the United Kingdom. Composers from around the world have dedicated music to him, including Fabiano Borges, Darragh O'Neill and Giuseppe Torrisi.

Pablo Rodriguez plays a guitar by the Alicantino maker Carlos Juan Busquiel and an historic instrument by Parizot & Lauriol, Bordeaux c.1830.
