The German/Belgian classical guitarist Laura Lootens was born in 1999.
She began playing classical guitar at 8, and made her orchestral debut at 15, performing the famous Concierto de Aranjuez. One of the youngest ever students at the University of Music and Performing Arts in Munich, she began studying for her Bachelor of Music at only 16!
At just 18 years old, she was the youngest prize winner of all time at the Andres Segovia Guitar Competition in Spain, one of the most renowned international competitions for classical guitar. In 2019, Laura won the scholarship prize at the prestigious German Music Competition (open to all instruments) and was also awarded a special prize.
Having performed at the Gasteig “Winners and Masters” series in Munich, she was catapulted into a career that has already included important performances at the Beethoven Festival in Bonn, the Sommerliche Musiktage in Hitzacker, and the Muziekgebouw in Amsterdam. Since 2021, she has taught at the University of Music and Theatre in Munich.
